First of all I'd love to see that entire program to see exactly what it's about.
Second....Being raised by an ordained minister and a mother that is still to this day very religious it's still hard for me to believe that everything that was written in the Bible actually happened. I do believe God exists, but to everyone their own. Muslims, Buddhists, Christians, etc, all have their own view of what or who they're god is. So who am I, or anyone else for that matter, to say who is right and who is wrong. Did God create the earth and all of its beings in 7 days? Maybe he just created the first single cell organism after which evolution took over. Will I go to Heaven for questioning God's existence? Is there an after life or will my body just rot in the ground, grow into a tree that will eventually be cut down then made into paper and that the words of the Bible will be printed on? Who knows.
The point being, scientists work on evidence and fact...and so does religion, but to a certain degree. I know that for many Christians, the Bible is their point of reference for their facts, but we have to remember that the Bible is full of stories; stories written and rewritten by man. Who knows what was exaggerated, left out, or fabricated completely? I do realize that there is scientific evidence of events that occurred in the Bible (I can't name any off the top of my head but there's gotta be something out there).
Because I'm a man that likes to "see it to believe it" I lean toward the ways of science. Do I believe that both evolution, and a form of "God created Man" should be taught in schools? Absolutely, but not at such a young age where the child mind is like play-doh. People should have the choice to choose what they believe. I have, despite my parents efforts in taking me to church and instilling Christ in my life at a young age. Just because I don't believe in what they believe in doesn't mean I'm going to Hell, or that I'm a bad person, it just means that I have enough understanding to believe that ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE.
What's your stance?
